The Linux filesystem hierarchy is a standardized layout of directories, all beginning from the root directory “/”. Each directory has a specific purpose, helping organize the system and making it easier to locate files:

/ (Root): The top-level directory that contains all other directories.
/bin: Common user programs and essential command binaries.
/etc: System-wide configuration files.
/home: User home directories, where personal files and settings reside.
/lib: Libraries needed for essential system programs.
/usr: Secondary hierarchy containing user applications, libraries, and documentation.
/var: Variable data like logs, caches, and spool files that change frequently.
/tmp: Temporary files, often cleared at reboot.
/boot: Boot loader files and the kernel.

This structure helps maintain consistency, making it straightforward for users and administrators to navigate the system and locate files.
