Spanning five acres, the Main Fountain Garden is not only one of Longwood's most iconic and beautiful spaces—it’s also among the most precisely maintained. At the heart of its classical design are three allées of 164 littleleaf linden trees, pruned into formal, square horizontal hedges inspired by European garden traditions. To maintain these crisp lines and uniform shapes, we’ve introduced a custom-engineered hedging implement—designed specifically to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of our pruning process, without compromising the health of the trees. Of course, we don't go as fast as this time-lapse!
