Episode 1: @CarnivalRadiance Embarkation Day
Oh ship, it’s a family trip…round 2! We embarked on a 4-Day Baja CA cruise out of Long Beach, California aboard Carnival Radiance with Amanda’s sister and her family.
Our ports included:
Catalina Island
Ensenada, Mexico
We had a scenic ocean view cabin in the front of the ship right above the bridge so we had the same amazing views as our captain and his crew.
At the terminal, we parked and dropped off our luggage with the porters. Parking is $23 per day so $92 for our 4-day cruise.
Quick tip, if you walk along the sidewalk by the water, this makes for a great photo op in front of the ship!
After taking our photos, we headed inside to show our boarding passes and passports, got our Sail and Sign pictures taken, and went through security which included security dogs sniffing our carry-ons. Then we waited in the boarding area for about 10 minutes before it was time to board. The check-in process was a breeze!
After boarding, we went to our muster station for the drill which was just a check-in with the crew member; they didn’t even do a life jacket demo. Afterwards, we grabbed lunch at Lido Marketplace and waited until 1:30PM to check into our cabins!

*Carnival Radiance was the first cruise ship we sailed on in 2013, but it was called Carnival Victory and it sailed out of Miami, FL.
*We did this exact cruise in 2014 to celebrate our 1 year dating anniversary!

Embarkation Day Tips:
✅ Keep your boarding pass and passport/birth certificates in your carry-on.
✅ Download the Carnival Hub app.
✅ Print/add your luggage tags to your checked bags. Give them to the porters outside of the terminal. It's customary to tip $1-$2 per bag.
✅ Pack swimsuits, prescriptions/medicines, valuables, etc. in your carry-on.
✅ You are allotted 1 bottle of champagne/wine per adult + 12-pack (12 oz. or less cans) of your favorite non-alcoholic drink! Packed in your carry-on.
✅ Attend your muster station drill.
✅ Put your phone on airplane mode before you set sail.
