Dr. John White won the 2012 National Higher Education Art Educator of the Year Award from the National Art Education Association. He is the second consecutive Kutztown University Professor to win this award, with Dr. Marilyn Stewart winning the award in 2011.

The award was presented in New York during the NAEA convention in early March.

As well as teaching at KU, Dr. White is the department chair of the Art Education and Crafts department in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Kutztown University. This department is housed in the newly renovated Sharadin Arts Building at KU

Another honor attained by Dr. White is the opportunity of being chair of the research commission for the NAEA.

Kutztown University also has its own student chapter of the National Arts Education Association which promotes art education and involves the students in the local community.
