Biking Cuba Road - Most Haunted Road in Illinois

Join me as I bike the most infamous stretch of roadway in the state of Illinois - Cuba Road.

Located in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, Cuba Road has garnered a reputation as the most haunted highway in Illinois. Over the years, locals and travelers alike have told tales and shared stories of paranormal activity that occurs along this winding thoroughfare.

One such ghostly tale involves a black hearse that appears near White Cemetery and follows unsuspecting drivers, tailgating and steering erratically in an attempt to force them off the road. Some claim it is a black sportscar and others a black model-t ford from the Prohibition era. So beware of phantom headlights that may appear suddenly behind you while cruising on this lonely highway.

Cuba Road is also surrounded by wetlands and marshes where it is said that gangsters from the Al Capone days of the early-mid 20th century would dump bodies and leave them to decompose in the swamp. Other stories include cars lit on fire by the mafia and modern day gangs, left to burn on the side of the road. The charred remains of victims left to decay amongst the gravel and asphalt of the roadside.

The most popular location along Cuba Road is White Cemetery - taking bodies into the ground since 1820. People claim to have seen ghostly apparitions and orbs, and there are accounts of a phantom window that appears at night in the moonlight, said to be from an old farm house that burned down a century ago.

Whether you are a believer or a skeptic, Cuba Road has become a symbol of Urban Legends in the Chicago region, and I had a blast biking this winding roadway amidst the autumn foliage. For those daring enough to navigate this 'cursed' road at night - I bid thee Good Luck!
