Another pedal from the Andrew Rinard Bass Board Collection, the DOD Meatbox Subsynth is a a bass subharmonic synthesizer and low-end enhancer.

It features controls for adding in that low octave, sub control to blend in the synthesized subharmonic to your signal, and a low control that increases/decreases the low frequency content of the output, which keeps the extreme lows from overwhelming your amp and speakers.

How does it sound? Absolutely awesome, IMO.

Welcome to get off set. My name is Emily and today I have the DOD meatbox subsynth, which is one of the Andrew Rinard pedals. He's the cohost of my podcast called get offset, check it out. he loved me as a bass board and this is the last of the pedals on his bass board that I'm going to be running through.

[00:00:21]and I know he was very excited to get this. I've never played it. I'm just plugging it in, but we have octave. We had the sub lo and we have output. So let's just have a little bit of fun with it. I'll put the description then in the, in the, in the notes, in the, you know, the description, I'll put it in description in the description.

[00:00:41] How about that, about, what the pedal is and what it does, but I just really wanted to do like a first reaction kind of video. So let's.

[00:07:51] Okay. that actually I thought, Oh, I thought that had a.

[00:08:03] All right. I thought that had a ton of really cool sounds in it. I, I don't know how to say this. I feel like the output doesn't get loud enough when the mix is at a hundred percent, I assume that this is just mixing the Okta van and I anything that's like synthy. I just like. To have it, the mix all the way up.

[00:08:32]98% of the time, probably with a couple of exceptions, in certain parts of songs with my band sundae crush. But, if this were always on and you could compensate for that kind of signal loss. Yeah. Cool. Dope. Love it. Let's do that. let me try, there we go. yeah. Nice. I'm into it, but, if, if you just want it on sometimes.

[00:08:54] You have, unless there's something like weird about this particular pedal, which is a possibility, or I'm doing something wrong, which is also a possibility, from out of the box, from my first impressions of playing this, it, yeah, it seems to not like really like have a lot of volume on tap when the mix is at full, full, which I think would be a problem unless you were using this pedal.

[00:09:21] All the time or are okay with it being quieter. so yeah, I really had to compensate for the volume more than a little bit. And even then, I, I don't think it was that loud. I don't do a ton of posts on these videos, so I'm not going to compress it more. I'm not even going to really change. I think I got it as loud as I could without it going into clipping.

[00:09:43] So that is my success metric. if you think this video, if the instrument was too quiet, It was the pedal. Sorry about that. but yeah, it's, I think it sounds dope for, for what I know that these things, go for when they're on sale. It's a great deal. If you want that kind of synthy synthy sound for an affordable price, even not on sale.

[00:10:04] I don't think they're super expensive. I mean, they're DOD pedals, which are kind of famous for being a type of pedal that, that's affordable. For just everybody. So yeah, I think it sounds great. Not a huge fan of the apparent volume.
