Charing Cross and Strand Pubs

Описание к видео Charing Cross and Strand Pubs

A tour of pubs in the Charing Cross area, followed by a few along the Strand. Including the usual commentary on interiors, exteriors, origins of pub names and other bits of history.

I think I've actually made some novel contributions to pub history here! In particular:
- An earliest record for the Ship and Shovel(l) of 1781, earlier than any other I found.
- A suggestion that the Lyceum Tavern may predate the Lyceum Theatre of 1772.
