Jazz Tuesdays is a weekly event featuring great jazz musicians from all over the state of Michigan. Each week brings in a different guest artist and a new experience.

This week we feature the great trombonist Michael Dease. Michael was born in the countryside of Augusta, GA in the Deep South, and played the saxophone and trumpet before choosing the trombone at age 17. In 2001, Dease moved to New York City to become part of the historic first class of jazz students at The Juilliard School, earning both Bachelors and Masters degrees, and quickly established a reputation as a brilliant soloist, sideman, and leader. His newest album, "All These Hands," was released in January 2017.

For this outing, Michael is joined by fellow MSU Professors of Jazz Randy Gelispie, drums, and Randy Napoleon, guitar, along with renowned Hammond organist Jim Alfredson. MSU Jazz Studies student Drew Kilpela also sits in with the group.

Jazz Tuesdays is graciously sponsored by the East Lansing Summer Solstice Jazz Festival.
