Passion Works is a collaborative community art center in Athens, Ohio. It was founded by Patty Mitchell in 1998 with the mission of inspiring and liberating the human spirit through the arts. For over twenty years, the studio has been experimenting and exploring different mediums and techniques so that the arts are accessible to everyone. Its core group of artists have developmental differences and they work with makers of all abilities to collaboratively create puppets, paintings, metal flowers, jewelry, sculptures. "Together While Apart: A Story of Creative Place-Making" explores how the studio has partnered with other community organizations and the university to foster social connections amidst the physical distancing required by COVID-19.
