Trivia:
The attraction's name, Kumba, taken from the African Kongo language, translates into "roar" in English.
Kumba was the first roller coaster in the world to use now-common coaster elements including dive loop and interlocking corkscrew.
When opened, Kumba held the tallest vertical loop on any coaster in the world, at 108 feet tall. This record was then broken by PortAventura's Dragon Khan. Today, the current record-holder is Full Throttle at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
It was Busch Gardens’ third roller coaster, and the first that was custom designed for the park.
This is the oldest operating Busch Gardens Tampa Bay roller coaster, following the closure of the Scorpion.
Kumba means Roar in the African Congo Language. When the train navigates the track, it makes a very loud roaring sound. This is due to the hollow square-shaped track.
Following rumors among the online theme park enthusiast community that Kumba would be closing permanently in late 2022, the park set the record straight on social media shortly, announcing the rumors circulating around the ride are false.
The logo and sign change near the attraction is to possibly indicate that the ride will not close at anytime soon.
