Once a dominant shopping destination for thousands in the Pottstown Pennsylvania area throughout the 1970s into the early 2000s, the Coventry Mall was the place to be on a Friday and Saturday night. Sadly with the growth of local strip malls, online shopping, and mega chain stores like Target and Walmart, the decline for Coventry was swift, and by the 2010s the end was in sight. Today the original structure still stands, though now only with it’s anchor stores and a few small businesses accessible from the outside, effectively turning the building into what helped lead it’s downfall, a strip mall. The interior halls and stores that once saw thousands of shoppers each week will now be transformed into self-storage, possibly to hold many locals discarded items once purchased within the mall itself.
