In VISIBILITY, steelhead legend Lael Paul Johnson and filmmaker Tyler Soares take viewers on an emotional journey through the Pacific Northwest’s lush rainforests and icy rivers. The film documents Lael’s quest to leave a legacy that transcends fishing, shedding light on his passion for mentoring anglers and sharing the transformative power of the outdoors. Through fishing, Lael finds a connection with Westley Allen, a fellow angler whose triumphs echo his own. Together, they reveal how the raw, unfiltered challenges of steelheading mirror life itself—persistence, adaptation, and the pursuit of fulfillment.

The title VISIBILITY reflects Lael's dual challenge: navigating the murky waters of steelheading, and carving a space in an industry where representation is limited. Tyler brings the story to life with his filmmaking. Their shared passion for storytelling and steelheading transformed what began as a fishing trip into a heartfelt exploration of identity, resilience, and the power of connection.
