A dynamic-link library (DLL) file contains data and codes to allow usage by more than one program simultaneously. They're tailored for Windows programs and are, therefore, incompatible with other operating systems. You can run DLL files without having to open them, but sometimes, you're required to open them to enhance certain processes or check for missing files. The various ways to open DLL files include:
Using Microsoft Windows 7 or newer versions.
• On your Windows, go to the start menu and find the command prompt. Or press and hold the windows button, R, and type cmd on the prompt that shows on your screen.
• Find the folder with the DLL file. Open the command prompt on that folder. Do this by pressing and holding the shift key and right-clicking on the folder.
• Key in "regsvr32 (the DLL name).dll" and tap enter. This adds the DLL file to your computer, allowing easy access.
• You can now open your DLL files on your Windows.
• If some files are behaving abnormally, key in "regsvr32 -u (the DLL name).dll" and click enter to remove the files. You can also do this step when you want to remove any DLL file.
Via online visual studio:
• On your web browser, visit the visual studio website, online.visualstudio.com; the link is in the description.
• If you have a Visual Studio account, log in. If not, register for an account.
• Once you're in, open the DLL file in your file explorer to upload it to the program.
• You can now open, edit, and read your DLL file.
Via decompiler program.
• Install the decompiler program you are comfortable using.
• In your decompiler program, open the DLL files. The process for this step varies depending on the decompiler program you've chosen.
• Browse for the DLL file using the Assembly Explorer. Data on DLL files is stored in nodes and subnodes.
• Click on a node to access the subnodes under it.
• To ensure the nodes are functioning as they should, double-click on the node, which will open a code. With the code open, you can scroll and check whether functions are being executed.
