Описание к видео Getting Used To Modern Cruise Control With a 2025 Ford Explorer

Last month I started driving a new company car. It's a 2025 Ford Explorer (Active Trim Version). Previously, I drove a 2016 Chevy Traverse and a 2014 Honda Pilot. Obviously, the new 2025 vehicle is far more advanced than the cars I drove previously. In the coming days and weeks I plan to go over a lot of details about what's new, different and/or exciting about this new Ford. Those additional videos will be added to a playlist, which you will find here.    • Getting to Know the 2025 Ford Explorer

Today, I focus mainly on how Cruise Control is new and different compared to the Cruise Control behavior of those previous company cars. Specifically, this Ford Explorer, with its 300 horsepower four cylinder "Eco Boost" engie and 10-speed transmission seems to have plenty of power to maintain the speed I set using Cruise Control, even through the 70 miles-per-hour zone which runs directly through the Salt Lake City area on Interstate 15. Even when I'm driving uphill or downhill, the Cruise Control will maintain the speed I set within about 1 mile per hour. When the vehile is going downhill, it will even engages the brakes (if necessary) to keep itself from going faster than the speed I've set.

Ford's "Adaptive Cruise Control" also senses the speed of traffic in front of this vehicle. The driver can select an appropriate following distance and the car will react to slower traffic ahead by slowing down the car automatically (when a Cruise Control speed is selected). I find that if I select a longer following distance then the car's adjustment to a slower speed is more gradual and smooth. If I select a short following distance then the car's adjustment to a slower speed can be quite abrupt. It can seem like the driver has slammed on the brakes!

In this video I neglected to mention that the slowest speed at which the driver can engage Cruise Control in this Ford Explorer is 15 miles per hour. With most older vehicles I've driven, the minimun Cruise Control speed has been 25 miles per hour. It may seem unnecessary to use Cruise Control at very slow speeds, but in some of the areas when I routinely drive the posted speed limit is 20 miles per hour. I prefer to set the car's speed using Cruise Control in very slow zones because, in such zones, it's easy to start feeling as though the car is going too slow. I'd rather set the car to an appropriate speed and then pay closer attention to other driving concerns.

The 2025 Ford Explorer is available in four trim levels. Ths Explorer is this video comes from the least costly of those options. It's an "Active" model. The Active Ford Explorer is a rear-wheel-drive vehicle but it is available with optional four-wheel-drive. The Explorer in this video has the four-wheel-drive option. Other trim levels (in order of lowest-to-highest price) are ST-Line, Platinum and ST. The more expensive trim levels include higher-end speaker systems, more driver assistance features, larger wheels, more luxirious seating materials and, in the case of the ST model, a standard 3-liter V-6 twin-turbo Eco Boost engine with 400 horsepower. All 2025 Explorers come with towing hardware built into the back of the vehicle and each can tow about 5,000 pounds.

I look forward to going into more detail about this 2025 Ford Explorer in the near future.
