How a Volcano is Formed - Entire Volcanic Eruption in 60 Minutes

This time-lapse video shows the entire volcanic eruption by Litli-Hrútur in Iceland in 60 minutes, from the start of the eruption on July 10th to August 5th, when no signs of lava were visibly coming from the crater.

The eruption occurred between Litli-Hrútur and Keilir on the Reykjanes peninsula in Iceland and lasted about 27 days.
This was the third eruption in three years to take place in the Fagradalsfjall fissure area. The volcanic system has been dormant for 6,000 years but the last eruption on the Reykjanes peninsula was about 800 years ago. It is believed that the peninsula has entered a new era of volcanic activity that could last for hundreds of years, more eruptions are expected in the near future.

Thousands of frames were cut out due to people going in front of the camera. Additional frames were cut out due to poor visibility, freezing of the broadcast, and more. This should make the video easier on the eyes since sprinkling just a few frames in sharp contrast to the volcano can make a time-lapse like this extremely difficult to watch.
