Camp Cooking, Baking Biscuits On A Woodstove

Описание к видео Camp Cooking, Baking Biscuits On A Woodstove

In this video I demonstrate #woodstovecooking by baking biscuits. Usually people think they need a #castiron #dutchoven to bake but I've developed a method for baking on top of a #woodstove.

Traditional biscuits recipe:
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
1 tbsp sugar
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup milk

Directions:
Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl. Add the shortening and mix in so the mixture looks like small clumps. Then add the milk and stir together. Use a hand blender to mix all the ingredients together. Drop the dough on a greased baking sheet and bake at 450 degrees F for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Yields about 12 biscuits.

My recipe:
Half a container full of whole wheat flour. Unless it's a big container, then half is probably too much. Don't use a bucket for example. If your container is too small you'll still need to only do half so you have enough room for mixing. But if your cup is too small you won't have much food.
Then add some baking powder. A palms worth.
Some salt, enough to fill a thimble. If you don't have a thimble look at the end of your finger where the thimble would go and imagine it filling that and then add about that much salt.
Mix these but don't overmix.
Next push the flour back to make a hole for pouring in the olive oil. Don't add too much or too little. Then cut it in.
Then add some water, again not too much or too little.
Mix it all but don't overmix. Put the dough into your pan and cook it.
