Music Animation - Bach Toccata - Simple Line Test (35 seconds)

Today: interesting trying to find the best configuration of shapes to fit the music, of course it's not an exact science and is quite subjective. Working quickly to finish keyframing the whole one minute animation, to get the timing right, will then go over each frame and start figuring out the best way to draw/sculpt it.

Description:
Returning to my audio-visual MA project: illustration, animation and apps to demonstrate Synaesthesia experiences, which is a fusion and/or co-creation of sensory experience of two or more senses. This work is inspired by 'Fantasia' Disney animation. There are a lot of possibilities but for now I'm focusing on the music visualisation aspect.

The goal is to submit a music video for Annecy animation festival next year, and to offer both the music and the video available for streaming and purchase.

Much has been written about Synaesthesia, my goal is to use the skills I've learned - coding, music production and animation - to create interesting, immersive, cross/multi-sensory synesthetic experiences for viewers and listeners.

If you like the music: this is the start of my 1 minute version of Bach's classical piece 'Toccata and Fugue in D minor'. I've purposefully kept it short, as mixing and mastering stage took over 5 months, still that's better then the Vivaldi mix - which I still need to remaster - that took 6 years! Technical Details:
Using Blender's Grease Pencil for frame by frame animation, with Grease Pencil Tools addon for timeline scrubbing. I'll use other plugins to speed up the workflow for repetitive elements. The challenge will be to put this into 3d, VR and Unity3d. The music was mixed and mastered in Reason 11.
