I am hunting Winter Steelhead in Washington state and I came up big! I even had 2 surprise Coho Salmon that I hooked as welll! This week long trip had me staying out near the Olympic Peninsula on two beautiful rivers. The water levels were both very low and the water was clear. This makes it a little harder to catch fish, especially Steelhead, can be picky/spooked.

Out on the first river, I fished up and down for about 4-5hrs and I was rewarded with 2 beautiful blushy Coho Salmon females. I managed to get both of them on spinners. We could see Steelhead moving and holding in areas around logjams and rock shelves, but none would budge all day.

The second river a few days later was very low and it was crystal clear. I knew it was going to be a grind this day. We put in around 6am, which is why it is so dark. I managed to Hook a beautiful 20lb-25lb Steelhead buck about an hour in on that river. My Second Steelhead was a gorgeous chromatic colored female which I hooked towards the end of the day. I was using a Mad River worm under a fixed float setup. We did try beads and jigs this day, but nothing came close. I did have 4 fish on throughout that day, but only managed to get two in the net.
