11/15/2025 – James 2: 18-26
18 But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder! 20 Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works; 23 and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a friend of God. 24 You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. 25 And in the same way was not also Rahab the prostitute justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? 26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.

James 3: 13-17
13 Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. 15 This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. 16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. 17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. 18 And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

Hello everyone. I hope you all had a blessed Saturday. God got me out of bed this morning, led me into prayer, guided me through listening to this Bible in a year plan, and through my 9-mile run. Then, I got to spend some time with my boys and hug all of them today. I got to go to a hunter safety class with Jasper, which I thought was going to be lame, but it was very interesting, and I learned a lot and God is good! Please, say these dictums with me: I am a child of God, accepted and adopted; chosen and appointed; free from condemnation and complete in Christ. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Amen.
I picked a lot of verses today, and I could have picked more. I feel like James is speaking directly to me. I typically ask myself, how can I live out the love of Jesus Christ in my life? Jesus gives us 2 commandments: 1. Love God, 2. Love others. I see us Christians; the church (meaning all of the Christians in the world) falling into Satan’s trap making exceptions for certain sins that society, basically says are okay. For me, it’s greed, lust, and pride. I acknowledge this. I’m not beating myself up. I’m repenting. I don’t need to repent to earn salvation; Jesus gave that to me as a free gift when He died on the cross before I even knew him. The salvation or justification that I have through Jesus Christ is something that I could never accomplish on my own. Jesus says apart from Me, you can accomplish nothing. Instead of this being a reason for cheap grace – meaning that I should just go on sinning, because I will be forgiven, it’s actually a reason for sanctification. Because of what Jesus did for me on the cross, I should be obedient to Him by loving Him and loving others. Part of this is forgiving others the way God has forgiven me, so that I can be full God’s love instead of being full of bitterness and grudges. Again, my earthly justification and feelings tell me, “But this person did this.” God’s response is – AND? In chapter 3, James is telling me that my pride is a sin, so he convicts me but then gives us instructions for how we should live. We should be peaceable, gentle, and full of mercy. That’s easy until I get irritated and get in a hurry, right? And Lord, again this is where I need Your help, every day. Lord, please, continue to sanctify us and make us Your disciples to carry out Your great commission every day. Amen.
