when Jahfaa and I filmed these (there is one of Jahfaa as well), we were on a relationship check in retreat. celebrating a relational threshold in the mythos of our dance together, when we said yes to cultivating the being that gets born between us.

Jahfaa and I have often found ourselves engaging in ritual on beaches, near water, with ocean breath. the intention of this video when first filmed was to be a prayer for our relationship going forward. as I sat with this footage within myself and created audio for it, I noticed that what wanted to come through was strongly about self-love. self-rootedness. and self-divinity. I reflect on how my foundation in these things allows me to be a healthy partner. as someone who has been the abuser, the abused, and in general, experienced toxic, dysfunctional, and co-dependent ways of relating, this is my healing. rooting in my own self-transformation and bringing that to the transformation between. this continues to be the ground upon which Jahfaa and I build our partnership upon. I have learned that healthy relationship is all about mastering a balance of independence and connection. too often, couples lose their seperateness when coming together, but that distinction of "the other" actually adds so much to the juiciness of then intentionally blurring those lines (usually through some kind of lovemaking).

what is love? is a spell to remind myself that how I have a healthy relationship with another is by having a healthy relationship with myself. YES! hope you enjoy :)
