Leonard M. Adleman, winner of the Association for Computing Machinery's A.M. Turing Award, Adleman recounts his work with Ron Rivest and Adi Shamir to create what became known as the RSA cyptosystem, widely used to secure Internet communications. He beings by discussing the invention of public key cryptography by Diffie and Hellman, earlier winners of the award.
