2021 Mason Lecture
The 2021 Mason Lecture will honor the great pioneers of bariatric surgery we lost in the last year – Dr. Harvey Sugerman, Dr. Nicola Scopinaro, and Dr. Ed Mason.

Dr. Jaime Ponce, ASMBS Past-President, will emcee the presentation, celebrating the lives and accomplishments of these great leaders of our field. We hope you join us for this tribute honoring the contributions of three incredible surgeon trailblazers.

Additional speakers will include Luigi Angrisani MD, Eric DeMaria MD FASMBS, Shanu Kothari MD FASMBS, Manuela Mazzarella, and Ninh Nguyen MD.

2021 Presidential Address
Please join us in a very special session featuring ASMBS President Matt Hutter, MD MPH FASMBS. ASMBS will have an opportunity to formally welcome our upcoming president, Shanu Kothari, MD, FASMBS. The Presidential Address is a chance to honor the work done by ASMBS over the past year and outline a vision for moving forward.

ASMBS President
Matthew Hutter, MD, FASMBS is the current president of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). He is an Associate Professor in Surgery at Harvard Medical School, a visiting surgeon at Massachusetts General Hospital, and the Director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Weight Center.

ASMBS President-Elect
Shanu Kothari, MD, FASMBS is the president-elect of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). He is the Vice Chair of Medical Staff Affairs, Department of Surgery, at Prisma Health in Greenville, SC. The Associate Fellowship Director and Associate Professor of Surgery, University of South Carolina, Greenville.
