The 11th International Day of Yoga is being celebrated today with vibrant energy across India and around the world. The annual observance on June 21 promotes awareness of the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga.

This year’s theme — 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health' — reflects the harmony between personal well-being and the health of the planet, echoing the Indian ideal Sarve Santu Niramaya (May all be free from disease).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading the national celebration from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, with over 3 lakh participants. As part of the Yoga Sangam initiative, synchronised sessions are being held at over 1 lakh locations, with more than 2 crore people expected to take part.

Delhi is hosting yoga at 109 locations, including a grand event at the Red Fort. The Ministry of Ayush has also launched 10 signature events, such as Yoga Bandhan, Harit Yoga, and Yoga Unplugged, to engage people of all age groups.

The United Nations declared June 21 as International Yoga Day in 2014, following a resolution initiated by PM Modi during the 69th UN General Assembly session.
