After an earthquake, explosion, or other disaster, rescuers must try to find survivors as soon as possible. However, finding survivors under rubble is very difficult and dangerous. Using robots with many different sensors can aid in the safety of rescue workers, rescue animals, and survivors during a search. Thus this year I built a robot with hearing sensors to follow a specific sound, in order to increase understanding of microphone sensors found on rescue robots.

For this experiment, the hearing sensors or microphones were attached to an Arduino board and programmed to make the wheels spin in the direction of sound. Approximately 90% accuracy was achieved.
