Well, it’s that time of year in the finance world where quarterly earnings and stock prices get evaluated, and Netflix is high on the watchlist.
Wall Street analysts are getting ready to see an uplift for Netflix, after a pretty slow beginning to 2021. In comparison to the 25.86M new subscribers in the beginning of 2020, this year’s sign-ups were at a lower 5.52M. The large influx in 2020 is mainly due to the stay-at-home situation due to the global pandemic. So, what’s tempting everyone to get back to their couches again?
Maybe. Netflix is continually trying to up its game with diverse and interesting, new, original content that caters to all users and has potential for mainstream success. Since the beginning of 2020, there have been numerous shows that have exploded in popularity and gone mainstream, like the Queen’s Gambit and Bridgerton. However, the real driver here is actually the more recently released release of the Korean battle royale series Squid Game, with 111M viewers, segmenting it as the biggest release in Netflix's history. Not only that, but the release of Squid Game has also driven Netflix’s stock price up higher than its competitors. The show has increased the stock’s market value by $19B since its September launch.

Bitcoin traders have been kept pretty busy this week. There have been many conversations around the price corrections or bull runs speculated to happen due to the launch of the Bitcoin futures ETF on the New York Stock Exchange. The ETF launch news seems to have contributed to 5 months of highs for Bitcoin.
Funds going into open Bitcoin futures contracts are moving extremely fast with over $23B flooding the markets. This caused Bitcoin to reach its all-time-high on Wednesday the 20th of October at $67,276.79.
The extreme greed we mentioned earlier is in the hopes of a new all-time-high of 90k due to the ETF launch, although other experts are weary of this development, predicting a pull-back before the next all-time-high.
