Everyone's perspective is a little different; anyone can take a seamingly unfortunate happenstance and turn it around, if they allow themselves.

The key element to being able to putt on greens that are covered in sand, other than making sure your golf ball and club face are clean, is to get your body mass moving through your putt. When putting, there is still an element of what is known as Smash Factor, which is the new scientific term used to determine the efficiency of impact; this will have a profound effect on how the ball rolls. The way to increase Smash Factor in a putt is by making sure you focus on moving your body through the putt, which is why in today's lesson we are going to be walking through our putts.

First thing you want to do is give yourself a little room at setup, between where you ground out your putter and the ball, so that you have some room to fall in the direction of the hole as soon as you set the putt into motion. Creating this space is what will allow you the room to use gravity to its advantage, by having that space to fall.

Second, when you set the backstroke into motion, it must be done so with a strong enough “Heave” so that the putter and your arms are momentarily weightless, therefore reducing the leverage they have on your body. This is where you are able to utilize the space created at setup, so you can allow your body to start falling slightly towards the intended start line. The more you practice this, the easier it will be to feel the effect of gravity on a subtle level.

Third, on the turn through your putt, allow yourself to continue the turn until it results in a step through with your back foot walking towards the hole. Learn how to have the intention of moving yourself from point A to point B, rather than focusing on contact with the ball; your brain will take care of that.
