Описание к видео 479.5nm Vs 473nm Vs 488nm Wavelength Color Comparison (Beauty)

Hey All,

Read Note.! :)

Here is a Rare look at a custom Coherent Sapphire Wavelength of 479.5nm which is in the far back. In the middle is a CNI-PGL-III-C 473nm laser and closes to the bottom of your screen is my DIY Custom 488nm "489nm" CNI-PGL-III-C laser that i rebuilt myself into this host.

Now to give you guys a back store in short i bought this sapphire about 6 months or so ago. Since then ive fired it up several times. At least 10x. But never did i fire it up with another 488nm laser as why would i as i original thought it was a 488nm model.

So the other day i had fogged up the room for another beam viewing like i normally do 2-3 times a week. :D and i had setup my Melles Griot known 488nm Direct double 100mW+ laser as well as my Cobolt Calypso 491nm 25mW. I also had my 489nm handheld and a 473nm labby and a 561nm laser going. Anyway i had a lot of lasers going.LOL

I then decided to take the Coherent Sapphire out as i was going to record a video of 3 different powers 20mW 50mW and 100mW of 488nm for brightness comparison for you guys.

So i set up the Coherent sapphire got it lazing side by side to the other 2 488nm lasers and was Shocked at what i saw. I noticed that the Sapphire was not the same color visually as the other 2 488nm laser. (I had always said to myself for some reason this sapphire looked a little different but i had never thought anything of it and just thought it was because of other lasers i had running at the time that made it look that way.) So i never spectrometer it.

So since i bought it 6 months + ago i always thought it was 488nm. Until the other day i had no idea that it was not.

I finally spectrometered it and long behold its a RARE custom Ordered Wavelength that i guess whoever order it directly from coherent as i bought this surplus requested to have it at 479.50nm...

So what a score dont you think.? I cant believe i have this WL now and doing ~100mW.

See what happened was when i bought the laser it dint have the case So i dint know what model it was. I experimented and talked to several "people" that know the Sapphire "Keep in mind this is when i still thought it was 488nm" and they told me a few things to check and it seems that this head i have is a HP head.. It does more then 100mW but because i don't know 100% yet what the true ratings are i keep the laser usually around 50mW. Maybe its even just a 50mW model. SO i don't want to push my luck.:)

SO thats the store behind this laser and how it went UN-noticed for its true colors for over 6 months till now.

SO i figured id make a video of the difference. Its a very nice blue. It does not look or even come close to looking like 488nm now that i seen them side by side and as you guys can tell as well. Now its very hard to capture the difference of this WL but it truly does fall dead smack in the center of 473nm and 488nm and iam not referring to numbers.

There is More Blue to the beam then Green. 488nm on the other hand has more of that green coming out in it. The dot is blue, you dont see any green tint to it. However the beam with fog you do get a slight hint of Greeni'sh 488nm tone to it. But still even then i still see itas a light blue.

I will post an update with Picture on Laserpointerforum.com over the next few weeks when i get a another break from work so you guys can get a look a still shots.:)

Hope you guys enjoy this Wavelength. I know iam super happy to have found that i own this WL now too. I wonder what else is in my collection that i dont know about yet or thought otherwise. I still have not finished looking through all the lasers i got in at the time 6 months Plus+ ago. So we will see. But what a great find.

I did a quick search on 479.5nm and the last time i seen them show up was 3 years ago.

The funny thing is i was going to sell this to someone 6 months ago thinking it was 488nm for cheap as he wanted a non-Argon 488nm laser. Iam glad he decided not to buy it, But if he did he would have gone nuts to know it was 479.5nm as IIRC 480nm is his most "Want to buy" Laser Wavelength.

Anyway funny story on that. I would have cried if i sold it and found out it was 479.5nm after the fact.

hehe.

Cheers.
