Birdie is a 1- to 2-year-old cat from the slums of Mehrauli, and she was found by two people who contacted Friendicoes through Friendicoes regular Sonya Ghosh. The cat had jumped from a 5-storey building, and whilst we know cats have nine lives, she couldn't quite get the landing right.

She arrived at the shelter with hypothermia, dehydrated, with lower body paralysis and no sensation in her hind legs. The vet team first prioritised stabilising her before they could examine the extent of her injuries. She couldn't pass urine and needed a catheter. Once stabilised, x-rays showed a spine fracture. She is being monitored closely since animals with such trauma injuries most often don't make it. We hope your good wishes will see her through this critical juncture.
