Our Wollemi pine in june 2021. Planted out in february 2019 and it's doing well. The new growth is really beautiful at the moment.

It has a decent rate of growth in a sunny and warm spot in the garden against a south faced wall. It gets a little shade during the day from a larger Prunus serrula. I give it plenty of water during summer. Last winter I've protected it during the frost period. I gave it a non-heated shelter to protect it against the snow and cold winds. It had no damage at all.

I've planted it near a south faced wall to get some protection during winter and I hope I can prune it when it gets too large for this spot. But that's a worry for later.

The Wollemi Pine, Wollemia nobilis, is a fascinating tree. It was thought to be extinct for 60 million years until it was rediscovered in 1994 in the Blue Mountains in Australia. Nowadays you can see the Wollemi pine in many botanic gardens around the world. As garden plant it's still very rare.
