Sado Island is located off the coast of Niigata Prefecture and is the largest island in the Sea of Japan, covering an area of approximately 855 square kilometers, with a coastline of about 280 km.
Due to its location and the infl uence of the off shore Tsushima Warm Current, the climate on Sado Island is milder and has less snowfall compared to the mainland.
The island is home to a diverse range of both cold and warm climate plants, and is rich in marine products as well as a variety of agricultural products such as rice and fruits, making Sado Island blessed with food throughout the year.
On July 27, 2024, the Sado Island Gold Mines were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, adding to the many attractions Sado Island has to off er. We strive to provide memorable hospitality to our guests who visit our ports.
