2010 Chrysler Town & Country, Front Turn Signals Not Working, TIPM Fault???

Описание к видео 2010 Chrysler Town & Country, Front Turn Signals Not Working, TIPM Fault???

This 2010 Chrysler Town & Country van came in with the complaint that the front turn signals did not work. In this video I show a simple test method to confirm that the bulbs and wiring are good from the C4 connector of the TIPM (underhood fuse box). In my case I knew the TIPM was receiving the turn signal command due to the codes B063a and B0150 being set. So did I have a faulty TIPM? Kind of but not exactly.

So, on this vehicle the left front turn signal circuit is supposed to be on the white/light green wire located at terminal position 9 of the C4 connector and the right front turn signal circuit is supposed to be on the white/tan wire located at terminal position 7 of the C4 connector. During my original diagnosis I found those two wires in the number 11 and 16 positions. When I went to relocate the terminals to the correct positions, I noticed that someone had broken one of the terminal locks and that the plastic was damaged on the outside of the connector body also.

Correcting the terminals locations fixed the issue but why did someone move them to the wrong locations? A little research into this situation revealed that somewhere around 2012 to 2016 there was a running change in the TIPMs and the wiring harness layout. Replacement TIPMs for all years were the later design that used terminals 11 and 16 for the front turn signals. The replacement TIPMs came with instructions for relocating the original wires in early vehicles to the later layout.

Somewhere in this vehicles history the TIPM and wiring were updated to the later design. When I received the vehicle, the TIPM had again been replaced but with the earlier original design. So, I had an early model vehicle and TIPM with a later year turn signal wiring harness layout.
