Have you ever played small to win big?
My next guest Julie Gile @jmgilephotography did just that. She recently wrote a blog post titled “How I Played Small and Won Big”. The title caught my attention as we don’t normally think that playing small will allow us to win big. When I read it I was struck with the amazing amount of honesty, awareness and vulnerability.

Julie took the approach of setting some serious boundaries in her life in order to nurture herself, her family and photography business. Setting boundaries can be challenging for many, as we are typically enticed by the bright shiny object. She realized it was the only way she could remain in integrity with herself and show up as a good mother in a way that was meaningful to her.

Julie started her career in landscape design. When her mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer, Julie picked up a camera out of grief. She is a natural and decided that she wanted to make this her career. This was not overnight. Julie loved her first career, but her cup runneth over. She was depleted from a job where she couldn’t give any more while caring for an ailing parent. Oh and did I mention she was pregnant with her second child?

She talks through what she means by playing small and winning big, changing careers, and how she stays in touch with herself and her intuition to stay aligned and on track.
