(한글자막) Sam Okyere 샘오취리 - The REAL Reason Koreans Are Mad (KOR Sub)

Описание к видео (한글자막) Sam Okyere 샘오취리 - The REAL Reason Koreans Are Mad (KOR Sub)

Since my first report on this, the issue seems to have blown up a bit more.

I made the previous video the day this story hit the news, so I wasn’t able to speak to a lot of people to get their thoughts on what they really think about the issue.

Since then, I’ve been able to speak to a lot of people and now have a good understanding of the real reason why some Koreans are upset over Sam Okyere’s 샘오취리 actions.

This will probably be the realest video you’ll find on the subject, since I’m not trying to be politically correct and I don’t live in a foreigner bubble in Korea. I’m reporting a mix of real opinions from real people mixed with my own knowledge about Korea and Koreans.

The reason why some Koreans are mad at Sam Okyere 샘오취리 about the blackface response boils down to:

1) High school students are a protected group of people
2) The photo of them was shared without blurring their face
3) A mysterious hashtag involving kpop
4) Sam Okyere had made an alleged racist face on TV in the past

After the initial outrage Sam had made a post apologizing, but people were already extremely upset.

Shortly later, Sam Okyere 샘 오취리 did a short segment with the BBC talking about what had happened in Korea. He spoke about some of the issues, including how he didn’t think the kids did it intentionally, he just wanted to have a conversation about it. I thought the interview was fair, but many Koreans got upset over it, probably because of the title BBC used “Fighting Racism in South Korea.” Because Korea is a collective society, the people upset are being they don’t understand the difference between “there’s racism in Korea” and “Koreans are racist.”

At that point it was already too late, the witch hunt began and they starting looking for anything - including an old photo with a beautiful actress named Park Eun-hye 박은혜.

Someone on that Instagram post said “Once you go black, you don’t go back,” and Sam Okyere 샘 오취리 replied “preach.” This is nothing serious but the Koreas who were already mad tried to blame him for sexual harassment.
