The Yorkshire Martyr: Nicholas Postgate

Описание к видео The Yorkshire Martyr: Nicholas Postgate

From his humble beginnings in Egton Bridge, North Yorkshire, the Blessed Nicholas Postgate is revered as one of small band of priests who made it their mission to serve the Catholics in Yorkshire at the height of the English Protestant Reformation of the 16th and 17th century, when to do so was considered treason.

Presented by Tom Ingall, this documentary tells the tale of how the reformation came about; its terrible impact on the Catholics of the North Yorkshire Moors, and how Father Postgate managed to evade the authorities for many years, before a chance customs raid sealed his fate, and his eventual martyrdom in York.

This film was produced in 2015 for the Postgate Society by Mat Overton with support from staff and students at the School of Media, Design & Technology in the University of Bradford.
