A Discussion with Kishan Maharaj on Tabla, Talim, and many more. (Interviewed by Rajan Mishra).

Sharing the recording of an excellent conversation with the Banaras Gharana doyen Kishan Maharaj. He talks about the origin of the gharana, his guru Shriman. Kanthe Maharaj, the celebrated Ganesh Paran and many more. He also reveals the grammar and beauty of Taal Dhamar using simple arithmetic calculations.

Some interesting notes about the maestro:
Apart from Tabla, Kishan Maharaj was proficient in Pakhawaj (he has accompanied the Dagars several times), Mridangam and Dholak. He was also trained in Sitar, Sarod, Vocal as well as Dance (possibly Kathak).
