A School of Visual Arts Computer Art Thesis Film

In a world where about 8 in 10 people posses some kind of super power, Reineldis De La Cruz is a high school senior wanting to pursue hero work. In order to do so, a parental consent form is needed to allow any super children to attend a training academy.

Giselle, Reineldis' mother, has no intentions of letting her attend. However, a normal trip to the salon changes everything.

This film was inspired by my own life as a first generation Dominican American growing up in Inwood, NYC. I wanted to shed some light on a common struggle Hispanic children face here in the U.S. when it comes to pursuing something outside of our prescribed paths. I struggled a lot to convince my community that I had what it took to be an artist just like Reineldis wanted to be a hero.
