“I’m really tired of groups.”

I’ve been thinking a lot about that line and this portion of a talk that I gave at the The Hills Nashville a while ago called “Do you feel like you don’t belong?” (If you’re interested in watching it, you can find it here: https://tinyurl.com/2t744faj)

This thought has sat with me and on me as I’ve wrestled through belonging and community over the last few years. I’ve had a lot of these conversations in private over the years, but it was almost cathartic to say in front of people in this way. I wondered if anyone else resonated with it and wanted to talk more about it?

What does your community look like? What do you wish your community looked like? Are you tired of the norm and do you want something deeper? I think God wants that for you too.

And I think vulnerability and transparency are the key to unlocking it, in any context, local church or otherwise. I’m really tired of groups, as they are. I’m ready for more. Are you?
