In this episode, we will cover the Battle of Resaca de la Palma, fought on what was then disputed territory between Mexico and the United States. The battle took place on May 9th, 1846. During the Mexican American War, the Mexican Army of the North attempted to block the American Army of Occupation from reaching Fort Texas, located on the north shore of the Rio Grande where 500 American soldiers were surrounded by Mexican forces. The Battle of Resaca de la Palma resulted in an American victory and allowed Zachary Taylor to lift the siege of Fort Texas.
