In 2004, George Jones celebrated 50 years as a country music legend with a tribute concert recorded for PBS's SOUNDSTAGE program. Hosted by Reba McEntire, the concert presents live performances of Jones's greatest hits by 20 country luminaries, including Emmylou Harris, Kris Kristofferson, Alan Jackson, Vince Gill, Kenny Chesney, and Martina McBride.


"Why Baby Why" is the title of a country music song co-written and originally recorded by George Jones. Released in late 1955 on Starday Records and produced by Starday co-founder and Jones' manager Pappy Daily, it peaked at 4 on the Billboard country charts that year. It was Jones' first chart single, following several unsuccessful singles released during the prior year on Starday. Jones's first chart hit, "Why Baby Why", has gone on to become a country standard, having been covered by many artists. The recording session for "Why Baby Why" took place in Houston, Texas's Gold Star Studios and featured the house lineup of Glenn Barber on lead guitar, Herb Remington on pedal steel guitar, Tony Sepolio on fiddle, and Doc Lewis on piano.


Shelby Lynne (born Shelby Lynn Moorer, October 22, 1968, Shelby was born in Quantico, Virginia and raised in Mobile, Alabama. She is an American singer and songwriter and the older sister of Allison Moorer. The success of her pop rock album I Am Shelby Lynne (1999) led to her winning the Grammy Award for Best New Artist (despite being her sixth studio album). She released a Dusty Springfield tribute album called Just a Little Lovin' in 2008. Since then she has started her own independent record label, called Everso Records, and released three albums: Tears, Lies and Alibis, Merry Christmas, and Revelation Road. Lynne is also known for her distinctive contralto voice.
