This is why magnification and illumination are essential in performing the art and craft of dentistry, however this shouldn’t lead to one sacrificing their health. I have heard countless stories of colleagues who have practiced for decades that now suffer from neck and back pain. In order to have a long lasting career in dentistry so that I can serve my patients at a very high level, I understood early on that it was going to be important to be proactive and prevent these problems. This is one of the reasons why since dental school I invested in loupes and what further peaked my interested when I more recently heard more about ergonomic loupes.

I did a bunch of research and reached out to Andau Medical to learn more about this technology. I went with Admetec since they had the widest spectrum and highest magnification available on the market along with the largest field of view. Julianne, the Territory Manager for Andau Medical in Toronto, recently visited my office where the team at 416 Dentistry including myself got fitted for a pair of ergo loupes. I decided to go with 7.5x magnification paired with both the wired Orchid light and the wireless Butterfly light.
