The pandemic has changed the way many people work and most professionals spend the better part of the day switching from one chat window to another during online meetings and attending webinars.
Technology has become our source of entertainment, business, online meetings, online classes and online family gatherings.
Spending such a large chunk of the day in front of the screen may have an adverse effect. Mental health expexperts point out that working professionals who are adapting to the “new normal” during the pandemic may be facing a digital burnout.
researchers say that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the time spent digitally had increased enormously for both work- and leisure-related activities.
Digital burnout is fatigue and stress caused by prolonged use of technology.
The problem of digital burnout, however, specifically refers to feelings of exhaustion, anxiety, depression, or diminished interest in a job stemming from too much time on digital devices
Physical signs include sleep disorders, decreased energy, and even chest pains.
Burnout can affect anyone—even those whose work does not involve much or any digital technology. In fact, people can burn out by doing anything too often or too long, like taking care of elderly parents, raising children, even exercising too much.
The increase in burnout has led to action by the World Health Organization (WHO). In 2019, the WHO officially recognized burnout as an “occupational phenomenon” that can influence health status and should not be classified as a medical condition.
Digital burnout can be difficult to diagnose, however, because the problem develops gradually, and people may not know they are burned out until it is too late.
So in this video are some tips that will surely help us to avoid, prevent or even lessen the effects of digital burnout.
Deciding to cut off in digital world is a sign of self love.
Don’t wait until its too late.
