Erni Hernandez Armstrong spent 17 years working in the advertising industry before she decided to start Freestyle Marketing Group, a full-service advertising agency, in 2000. Her wealth of experience allows her to wear many hats in her role as president and CEO—from managing the executive team to leading the agency’s account planning efforts to making sure she and her team keep learning every day.
“I love being able to figure out how things work, then applying that knowledge to create something even better,” says Armstrong. “I’ve been doing this a long time, but I’m amazed at all the new things that I still look forward to exploring. I think that’s the real beauty of marketing. And the secret to still loving what I do after all these years.”

Another big part of Armstrong’s credo is giving back. Freestyle picks a charitable organization every year for which to do pro bono or in-kind work. It has supported, among others, The Indian Walk-In Center, And Justice For All, Kids On The Move and the Disability Law Center. Armstrong is director of Prevent Child Abuse Utah and a board chair for the charity she co-founded in honor of her mother, Philippines Humanitarian.
“I’m going to discover something today that I didn’t know about yesterday. In my business, we try to find the best solutions every day. Nothing feels better than being able to say, ‘problem solved.’”
