A beautiful look at how my Dwarf Gourami feeds both above and below the surface of the water.
I show how they use ballistic predation to capture insects that are just above the surface of the water, as well as how they use inertial suction feeding to capture prey below the surface. You'll see a male dwarf gourami feeding on live blackworms, as well as fish pellets.

These amazing freshwater fish (Trichogaster lalius) are very popular due to their bright colors and relatively small size. There are several captive bred varieties of dwarf gouramis such as the Neon Blue Dwarf Gourami (seen here), the Powder Blue Gourami, and the Flame Gourami.
