After sublimating a bee yard with Oxalic Acid, we clean our InstantVap using distilled water and the included pink silicone cleaning cap. We do this 2 times at each yard, and when we are done treating with OA for the day, we conduct a thorough cleaning of all the equipment in the lab.

ALWAYS point the brass nozzle AWAY from yourself or others when operating the InstantVap!

Fill the cleaning cap with distilled water.
Turn OFF the power switch.
Note that the displays remain lit when the power is OFF but the battery is still connected.
Remove the battery.
Note that the main display and voltage display go dark when the battery is removed.
Remove the OA dispenser from the loading tube.
Flip the unit over, and insert the loading tube into the cleaning cap of distilled water.
HOLD ON TIGHT!!
The cleaning cap will try to shoot off due to the pressure from the steam.
The pressure will decrease as the steam is expelled from the unit, and eventually the cap will stay in place on its own.
Remove cleaning cap, and repeat the process. In the field we complete this cleaning 2 or 3 times after treating each bee yard.
This cleaning can be done with the battery in the unit (but POWER OFF), but I failed in this attempt because I wasn't prepared for the weight.
Use both hands. By lifting and supporting the battery with a second hand the weight is no longer an issue.
Both the main display and the voltage display go dark when the battery is removed.
(Pro tip: If both displays go dark while using the InstantVap, the battery needs to be recharged.)

The pressure pushing on the cap causes a bit of steam to escape from the loading tube - hold on tight!

Occasionally, when cleaning the InstantVap darkened water will drip out of the brass nozzle or can be poured out of the loading tube. Completing another cleaning cycle or rinsing with distilled water via the loading tube will clear it up.
