In the 1960s, Bill Drake revolutionized rock 'n roll radio, creating a format - called 'The Drake Format' - that he exported to every radio market across North America, employing and adopting a set of jingles for each radio station market. As he did in 1965, when he bought a last place A.M. radio stations, #60 in the Los Angeles market, and within 3 months turned the station into the #1 radio station in the greater Los Angeles market, wherever a radio station adopted 'The Drake Format' (17 songs an hour, talking over the intro to song, using Drake's jingle package) the station shot to #1 or #2 in the radio market, as happened with 730 CKLG in the Vancouver market, beginning in the 1966.
