Hey everyone, what is addiction?
Addiction is a manageable chronic medical and mental health disorder. Addiction is a disease that involves complex interactions with neurotransmitters, genetics,environment and one's individual life precursors. People suffering from addiction may use substances or very harmful chemicals despite the severe health, mental or spiritual consequences disorder. Just a gentle reminder the struggle continues for those indulging excessively in alcohol, cocaine,psychostimulants,opioids,synthetic opioids, fentanyl,heroin,methamphetamine and other chemicals. If you think your relationship with alcohol or other substances has changed please seek professional help. Grief is a natural and normal response to loss, and it's common for individuals who have struggled with addiction to experience feelings of grief during their recovery journey. Here are a few tips for coping with grief related to active addiction:

1. Allow yourself to feel your emotions: Accept that it's normal to feel a wide range of emotions, including sadness, anger, guilt, and shame. Allow yourself to feel these emotions and work through them in a healthy way.

2. Seek support: Reach out to a trusted friend, family member, or therapist for support during this difficult time. Consider joining a support group for individuals in recovery, such as Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous.

3. Practice self-care: Taking care of yourself is crucial during the recovery process. Make sure you're getting enough sleep, eating well, and engaging in activities that bring you joy and fulfillment.

4. Reflect on lessons learned: Use the experience of addiction as an opportunity to reflect on lessons learned and to make positive changes in your life. Focus on the present moment and take things one day at a time.

Remember, recovery is a journey, and it's normal to experience feelings of grief and loss during this process. With the right support, self-care, and reflection, it's possible to work through these feelings and move forward towards a healthier and happier life.

In 2017; it was estimated that 970 millions people worldwide had a mental or substance use disorder. Mental health awareness is something that's so important, especially in today's society where we're constantly being bombarded with so much negativity. It's time that we start talking about mental health more openly and break down the stigma that surrounds it.
