On July, Ethiopia floated the exchange rate of its currency. Consumer goods prices have already jumped considerably. Ethiopia had failed to meet its loan payment obligation, which stood at $28 billion. The IMF has already provided Ethiopia with credit facilities and is supporting it to overcome the hardships. But Ethiopia is also going through a serious civil war and strife. Many believe Ethiopian financial problems were worsened by its endless war, particularly since 2018 when PM Abiy Ahmed came to power.
