Global Stars Aerobatic team performing at Sabarmati Riverfront, Ahmedabad, 01- 04 April 2014.

Show times were 11:00 am and 4:20 pm, each lasting for 10 -15 minutes. For the morning show, i was located on the east bank of the river and for the evening shows i was on the west bank.

Aircraft -
CAP232 (G-IITC), Formation leader (all white).
Extra 300 (G-JOKR) Left (white, red trim, red-white checker tail).
Extra 330 (G-IIHI) Right (red, red-white checker rear fuselage).
Extra 300 (G-EXIL) Rear (blue).

Camera: Nikon D750. 1080p60, 1/125s, M mode, Auto ISO (ISO mostly remained bottomed out at 100).

Lenses -
On 03 Apr i used the Sigma 50-500mm at f/16 with Matrix metering. The 50mm wide end was not wide enough to show full manoeuvres in some cases. Also, f/16 caused aircraft to be overexposed in some frames.

On 04 Apr i used the Nikon 18-300mm DX lens at f/22 with Highlight priority metering. I used DX (cropped) frame size so lens FOV is 28-450mm equivalent. This makes it a versatile video lens - the only flaw being there's no tripod collar so one can't rotate the lens about its axis when panning on a monopod.


This time i used a monopod for video so the footage is much more stable, with smoother zooms & less tiring than handlheld. But, as can be seen, much more practice is required :)

Footage shot at 1080p, 38 Mbps but uploaded at 720p, 5 Mbps.
