Achilles Come Down (Garak/Bashir Fanvid) Garashir Star Trek Deep Space Nine

A non-linear narrative about the times when Elim Garak hit rock bottom, and how Dr. Julian Bashir was always there to pull him back on his feet.

“Achilles Come Down” features two opposing narrators. In my mind, Julian Bashir essentially embodies the voice of the first one, urging Garak to move past the pain and live his life to the fullest. The second voice is more complex - it’s a mixture of negative voices in Garak’s life, both past and present, as well as what he’s internalized in his own mind. So we see Gul Dukat, Enebran Tain, and Garak himself echo these thoughts. By the end of the first part, the negative voice is fully Garak himself, arguing with Julian.

Since the song has sort of a false ending, I decided to use that as the divide between canon DS9 events and my fix-it headcanon. Julian returns to Cardassia to help with the post-war recovery, and reunites with Garak.

Everything featured is a clip from DS9 with the exception of the audio “So Garak, where do we go from here?” “Would you like to join me for lunch?” “Lunch?” “Lunch.” which is taken from Zoom performances featuring Alexander Siddig and Andrew Robinson reprising their roles, Alone Together by Matthew Campbell as archived on the Sid City Social Club YouTube channel.    • Alone Together Episode 4 - Alexander ...
