Postmaster General Louis DeJoy is set to testify before the House Appropriations Committee Thursday morning on the U.S. Postal Service's (USPS) role in ensuring election mail readiness ahead of November.

The postal chief expressed confidence in the agency's ability to turn around mail during election season in an interview late last month with The Associated Press.

“We’re going to be in great shape for the election. I’m pretty confident about everything that we’re doing,” he said at the time. “The American people should be confident.”

Still, election officials have warned that mail-in voting could face delays and disruptions if USPS's delivery system fails to fix persistent issues as the election gets closer. DeJoy has previously pushed back on the claims.

The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. EDT.
